A slight glitch
I have reached a slight glitch in my quest to become "a runner". I have been a few times and whilst I absolutely love it my trainers are not in the best condition and I keep hurting my ankle as a consequence. I am waiting for the sale to start at the local running shop so I can actually start training seriously. I have high hopes to enter the Race for Life next year and perhaps even the Great North Run the year after!! The thought of ME becoming a runner is still rather hilarious but I'm going to give it a really good shot.. but I do need some decent running shoes before I can do it properly.

maybe we can do race for life together!
Hi Sal, still very impressed with your progress! My top tip as a 'runner' is that you shouldn't leave too long a break (once you have started)to get back into it - it's unreal how quickly you lose fitness (though on the upside it comes back again, too)- after my 3 mile run before Easter - when I could easily have done 5 or 6 - I stopped for a bit, and I can now not even do 2 miles without various breaks. And it is hard to get back into...
I bought some Nike running shoes for well under £20 at JD Sports (or whatever that cheap sports place is called, might be JJB?), which are fine for the odd run - maybe visit the pro shop when you are doing the marathon!!! ;)
keep up the good work, am really proud of you.

PS Sorry Daniel's birthday present will be a bit late...
Thank you for the tip Kirky, I am definitely going to get some cheaper running shoes then. I have been waiting for the sale at the proper running shop but just found out they are still about £60 min which is unfortunately out of my budget right now. Am going to take your advice and get myself down to JJB Sports or JD whatever!
Thanks for your support as always. xxx
